Future Endeavors
I would like to talk about what my hopes are with music going forward in life. I have a few fantasies regarding music and myself that I am working towards turning into realities. The first is of myself playing piano and singing jazzy solo's as a means of entertainment in a classy, low-lit club with my future dog welcomed comfortably beside me. Another dream of mine is to refurbish an antique grand piano and to just simply enjoy playing it in my home after bringing it back to life.
Lastly, and most importantly, I want to collaborate with my sister in playing music. We haven't ever really done this in all of our lives playing music, I think it's because she feels sort of competitive towards me as her sister. I believe since we're older now and more independent that we could really enjoy music together. I imagine I'd be playing the piano while she sings along. My brother could join as well, as he plays a variety of wind instruments.
I don't have a song to share for this post. Additionally, I have uploaded a few pictures of my family and I and shared some captions to go along, descriptive of sweet moments of my past. Hope you enjoy.
This is a photo of my mom, brother, a well-known jazz musician named Mike Lewis, and I at my brothers first ever performance outside of school. He actually got himself his own gig playing a jazz-style Charlie Brown Christmas when he heard this man playing on the streets in Waikiki for an audience of school kids! How cool, right! (from left to right: my brother Keola, myself, my mom Kalei, and Mike Lewis)
This video is of my tutu (on the left) and her mother, my great-grandmother or "nana" (on the right) at our old family home in the hills of Pupukea. They loved playing their ukuleles, dancing hula and singing Hawaiian music, especially together. Nothing will ever come close to replicating the beautiful sounds of their souls shining through the expression of their music and dance, I miss them dearly every day.
This picture is of my dear friend's daughter, Aletheia. Her mom Lindsay lived with my family and I for about 8 years until we all moved and went our separate ways. During this time she gave birth to her beautiful daughter born into our family, loved and cared for by siblings and I as one of our own. This is a picture I took while I was hanging out with Aletheia one day and teaching her some moves on piano.
This is a photo of my sister and I (Kaea is on the left). I can't wait to have some photos of us making music together! Regardless, we've shared tons of great memories doing other things. She's the sweetest sister a girl could ask for and I cherish every moment with her.
Lastly, a photo of my brother, Nana and I outside of Keola's highschool after he finished a band performance. Our Nana was so proud and happy that evening, I am so thankful she lived as long as she did and was able to see the youngest of us doing something we love.
