    I chose to share this song for a little bit of a different reason. I absolutely love the beats and the singer's voice brings a sense of calmness to my mind, it's a great song to relax to but it's also awesome for listening to with friends and enjoying each other. I wanted to focus on the chorus again (as I did in my last post)- "I feel my heart beating, I feel my heart underneath my skin, I feel my heart beating- 'cause you make me feel like I'm alive again". 
    Can we just talk about the utter simplicity of these words real quick? "I feel my heart beating" - "underneath my skin", this is something we can essentially feel anytime so long as we're alive. Yet, the lyrics are sung in such a way that dramatizes this every-moment occurrence into something dreamy and warm. Provoked by a certain someone, "cause you make me feel like I'm alive again", the song sings of love and the way the acceptance of it can make every little beat of your heart that keeps you alive feel so good, and maybe even more meaningful to some. I don't mean to sound cheesy, yet I'm sure I do so I hope you brought some crackers and grapes along for this blog post.

      The song "Confirmation" by a London-based musician called Westerman, was released in 2018 on February 14th, otherwise known as Valentines day! Knowing that as the release date adds a sort of extra sad sentiment to the song, in my opinion. As the lyrics spring to mind feelings of self-doubt and anxiety, I can only help to wonder if this was secretly written about a relationship involving love.     I listen to this song all the time, and when I do I feel at peace. My favorite part of the lyrics are the part comprising the chorus that say "confirmations easier when you don't think so much about it - trying and it just won't work, I still can't get my head around that". I've always had my own interpretation of these lyrics in particular, and it was that acceptance of self and by others will just flow the way it's meant to if you just simply let go of wanting it so much. Future Endeavors

    I would like to talk about what my hopes are with music going forward in life. I have a few fantasies regarding music and myself that I am working towards turning into realities. The first is of myself playing piano and singing jazzy solo's as a means of entertainment in a classy, low-lit club with my future dog welcomed comfortably beside me. Another dream of mine is to refurbish an antique grand piano and to just simply enjoy playing it in my home after bringing it back to life.      Lastly, and most importantly, I want to collaborate with my sister in playing music. We haven't ever really done this in all of our lives playing music, I think it's because she feels sort of competitive towards me as her sister. I believe since we're older now and more independent that we could really enjoy music together. I imagine I'd be playing the piano while she sings along. My brother could join as well, as he plays a variety of wind instruments.     ...

Something Different- Music and Mental Health

     Instead of talking about my own experience or feelings towards specific songs, for this post I wanted to focus on the sort of history of emotions evoked by music through drums. Their rhythmic low-beating affects the body and mind in ways you may have felt and yet never understood. The sounds of drums have been known to release emotional blockage, as many teenagers understand in the aughts of angst, escaping to music. Regardless of the lyrical content, it's effects can be cathartic and soothing! In some cases, they are joyous outburst and expressional, while some are more of a call-and-response.       Drumming is a non-verbal and almost universal form of communication that is understood regardless of tongue or country of origin.
