Fur Elise- Beethoven
I want to talk next about my own personally journey in the world of music.
My sister was the first of the two of us to get into music lessons, she learned guitar for a while and then found interest in vocals and began taking singing lessons. She has an incredible voice and it thrived in a trained environment. My mom became good friends with her music teacher, Mrs. Trace. I remember the day it was decided I had to take music lessons too. I was in the second grade, at home in my room playing Bratz dolls with my sister, when I heard my mom call me to the table in the living room. Mrs. Trace was enjoying lunch with her and they explained to me that it was time for me to decide what I wanted to learn to play- I chose piano.
It turned out I was "a natural". Nobody ever had to tell me to practice when I got home, I ran straight to the piano. I think it helped that I built a strong and everlasting relationship with my teacher. I learned how to play the song I've shared, "Fur Elise" with no sheet music to guide me by the time I was in the fourth grade. I continued to play piano for about eight years to follow, and then picked it back up in college.
Although it has been another minute since I have played, the soothing sound of the piano is something that will never leave me or lessen in value.
Wow You play piano well. I heard piano is also good for the brain. So you might be smart. I have never learned piano, because it seems so difficult. I think your mom is also a great mom, because she suggested music to you music. Thank you for sharing. I had a fun time reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you! All of the piano playing as I was developing (more particularly, my hands) really strengthened my fingers and people are constantly shocked at how strong my hands are considering my smaller build (I am interested in learning massage so I practice on friends and family).
DeleteAlso, you are right! I am really thankful for my mom for exposing my siblings and I to music, especially considering she never really played an instrument, it's cool that all of her children have. She was, however, raised a hula dancer / performer and is a great singer but she likes to pretend she's not! Thank you for commenting!
